Production Engineering

Yuichi Matsui

Press Team, Prototype & Manufacturing Collaboration Section, Manufacturing Technology Development Department, Innovative Production Engineering and Quality Assurance Division

Work Responsibilities

As a member of Ebara Manufacturing Technology Advanced Center (EMTAC), I am involved in producing prototypes essential for product development, primarily impellers for pumps. My role also includes resolving and supporting issues at our district, and further expanding our expertise in ‘press manufacturing’, a core area for us. Many widely used products are manufactured by pressing, and at EBARA, this technology is utilized in our relatively small-sized pumps and fans. Having experienced various tasks related to pressing so far, I am now at EMTAC, where I create standards for press manufacturing of EBARA and accumulate technical knowledge to contribute to the overall quality improvement of the EBARA Group.

Skill Development And Sharing Know-how With Other Employees

I’ve acquired skills by actively engaging in my work, with guidance from my supervisors and senior colleagues. Such knowledge resides not only in me but in each employee. However, unless we output them as standards and technical documents, they won't become company assets. While EBARA is a global company, it's crucial to firmly maintain and pass on our technology at our domestic bases in Japan. I believe it's important to document and pass on my experiences and insights, including failures, to the next generation.

What I Want to Do in Future, And My Message to Young People

EBARA's appeal lies in its encouragement of "challenges," with HR also evaluating employees' willingness to take on challenges and their proactive attitudes. Additionally, at EMTAC, the close proximity to superiors likely makes easier for us to voice our opinions. I feel a strong sense of psychological safety. Regarding pressing, there's still significant potential for further initiatives at EBARA. This phase is particularly fruitful, as the more we engage, the more achievements and insights emerge. Furthermore, a distinctive characteristic of EBARA is the opportunity to be involved in various business fields without being confined to a single area. I hope to see an increase in colleagues who can grow with us and contribute to our business activities.
