Manufacturing

EBARA FAN & BLOWER Suzuka Plant, Manufacturing Department, Canning Section

The work I am in charge of

At the Suzuka Plant, we mainly manufacture blowers used in steel mills, cement plants, and waste incineration facilities. Among them, I am engaged in the canning work of the impeller, which is the heart of the blower, (temporary assembly before welding, distortion removal and grinder finishing after welding). I do the work myself, but I also work with the leader to arrange work for the members and manage the process. I find it rewarding when I work with members and related departments to deliver a product to the next process on time, or when a difficult task goes well. We are proud of the fact that our blowers are used in plants for making materials that are indispensable to the world, such as steel and cement, and in infrastructure that supports daily life, such as waste incineration facilities.

Skill development and sharing expertise with other employees

With our members and juniors, I share the know-how I have acquired so far without hiding it. I also try to show them what I'm doing in front of them. Recently, due to digitalization, the know-how and procedure manuals for on-site work are preserved in the form of photographs and texts, so I feel that knowledge and experience are being passed on. In addition, regarding this initiative in the field of welding, we contacted EMTAC about welding methods that we had no experience with and materials that we had never worked with, and received advice from a professional perspective. EMTAC members actually come to the site and explain logically while looking at the welding worker and the actual product, which improves the skills and knowledge of the workers.

What I want to do in future, and my message to young people

Until now, I have only done can-making work, so from now on, I would like to experience assembly work and think about manufacturing from a comprehensive perspective. I would like young people to be interested in new technologies and methods because they think that they will be useful someday. The technology inherited from the past is important, but if you incorporate the latest technology, you will be able to create even more wonderful things. At the Suzuka Plant, there is also a system in which the work teams of each process are shuffled so that they can experience different processes. This is to be involved in various processes so that you can find the area you want to do and acquire a perspective that looks at the entire process. I would like young people to take on more and more challenges.
