​At EMTAC, I have accumulated know-how mainly on prototyping pump parts for new product development and on our core technology, laser welding, to support each EBARA’s business district in solving their issues. ​Laser welding is a type of welding process that joins parts by melting materials with a laser. Since the heat from the welding causes minimal deformation, it is suitable for joining thin plates. It is used for joining parts such as pump impellers and casings. I joined the current team in 2022 and was responsible for introducing laser welding machines to EMTAC. Since then, I have been accumulating know-how on this technology.

Working in “monozukuri” (manufacturing) at EBARA provides a lot of daily learning opportunities regarding the shapes and dimensions on the drawings are produced in the actual manufacturing process. That is my daily reward. On the other hand, even when proceeding to prototyping with a clear plan, things sometimes do not go as anticipated, and I often feel a lack of necessary knowledge and experience. To reduce such cases as much as possible, I accumulate my own know-how and, at the same time, make an effort to document failures so that we do not repeat the same mistakes and can utilize the lessons learned for future projects.

This is not limited to EBARA, but from going forward, I believe it will become increasingly commonplace to work while having circumstances other than work, such as caregiving or childcare. There are many colleagues who have returned from maternity or childcare leave at EMTAC, and I feel that it is a comfortable workplace for women. I hope that, going forward, EBARA will continue to be a place where all kinds of people can work at their own pace. Sometimes “monozukuri” (manufacturing) doesn't go as expected, but that is precisely why it is so rewarding. Let's grow with us and contribute to EBARA's various business activities!
