Manufacturing
Koji Furukawa (assembly technology)/Sodegaura

Work responsibilities
We assemble and test compressors and turbines. Products that have finished processing are assembled by ourselves, tested, and delivered to customers. It's always scary to develop a new product, but the sense of accomplishment when the test goes well and the product meets the customer's needs is truly great.
Changes and evolutions from the past in the monozukuri (manufacturing) field
When I first joined the company, I was in charge of serial numbers, managing each and every piece of machinery, and was involved in everything from pressure resistance to assembly, testing, and shipping preparation, as well as providing installation guidance and trial operations at the site where the products would be used. Since then, the division of labor has progressed. It is becoming more common to use VR and online tools to connect to the site remotely and carry out work.
Future goals & message to young people
Automation and other cutting-edge technologies are being introduced into factories, but it is still important for people on the front lines to acquire skills and knowledge. I hope young people will take skill tests. These tests require them to decide on a process and make a product on their own, and that is where monozukuri know-how is concentrated. I don't think you can create a good product unless you have experience with the latest technology and have cultivated that kind of know-how.
