Production Technology
Akinobu Arakawa

Work responsibilities
We develop thermal spraying technology to repair products and improve their surface performance. The main application of thermal spraying is to restore the dimensions of worn parts of a product. In my work, I always try to think about whether something is theoretically correct, and I also value acquiring new knowledge and formulating hypotheses.
Adjustments made when teaching skills to international trainees, and lessons learned
Our thermal spraying technology is still in the process of development, so rather than teaching it to them, we develop it together with the trainees, and in the process, we pass on our skills. I personally was able to see firsthand the cultural and religious differences that I had only known in theory. Learning these will help lead to the revitalization of the organization. In addition, Aditya, an overseas trainee, is originally working in the field. It was also a valuable experience to be able to work together with him while he taught me the on-site knowledge that I lacked.
Future goals & message to young people
In addition to thermal spraying, I would like to perform welding work and broaden my scope as an engineer. I would also like to gain knowledge on 3D modeling and design so that I can create my own models and drawings of all the parts and jigs (auxiliary tools used in making machined products) used in tests. I think the appeal of working at EBARA is that you can be involved in various kinds of products and acquire a wide range of knowledge. I would like to be able to provide more support to the business division's operations and technical issues.
