One of the EBARA Group's aspirations for 2030 is the "Practice of Advanced ESG Management." We are actively pursuing reductions by setting targets for our Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, our emission reduction contributions (avoided emissions), and the total GHG reduction volume as defined by our company. In addition, we are also working to create new businesses that support the realization of a carbon-neutral society.

◆Roadmap for Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050
*GHG:greenhouse gases, Greenhouse Gas abbreviation.
*1.Our 2030 targets for Scope 1, 2, and 3 have been certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)—a joint initiative by the WWF, CDP, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the UN Global Compact—as science-based short-term goals.
*2.WBCSD: World Business Council for Sustainable Development
GHG emission reduction targets in the value chain
Scope1,2
2030 target: 55% reduction compared to 2018 (1.5°C level)*
*The reduction target is consistent with the 1.5℃ level target of the Paris Agreement.
*1. For our 2030 target for Scope 1 and 2 emissions, we've received certification from the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), a collaborative effort by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), CDP, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the UN Global Compact. This certification acknowledges our short-term target as a scientifically-backed goal.
Efforts to Reduce Emissions
- Promoting energy efficiency and conservation
- Upgrading energy-intensive equipment at the optimal time
- Electrifying fuel sources
- Introducing solar power generation systems and procuring renewable electricity
- Switching from HFCs to natural refrigerants

Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP)
The ICP price is set at 10,000 yen/t-CO₂ and is used as an indicator of the unit price of the environmental value related to the procurement of renewable electricity.
Scope 3 (category 11)
2030 target: 25% reduction from 2021 (WB2°C level)*
*The reduction targets are consistent with Well Below2 Celsius target of the Paris Agreement.
*1. For our 2030 Scope 3 target, we've received certification from the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), a collaborative effort by the WWF, CDP, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the UN Global Compact. This certification acknowledges our short-term target as a scientifically-backed goal.
Efforts to Reduce Emissions
- Increase the efficiency of our products
- Promote customer and supplier engagement
- Introduce milk runs when procuring parts
Contribution Target to Customers' GHG Reduction
We are working on three goals to contribute to our customers' GHG reduction through our products and services.
Goal 1
Reduction Contribution (referencing WBCSD guidance)
43 million tons in reduction
Cumulative CO2 equivalent reduction from eligible EBARA products sold from 2023 to 2030 over their product lifecycles.
The target was set based on the "Guidance on Avoided Emissions" published by WBCSD in 2023.
<Conditions of the WBCSD Guidance on Avoided Emissions>
- Publish SBTs for Scope 1, 2, and 3.
- Not directly applicable to activities involving the exploration, extraction, production, distribution, and sale of fossil fuels.
- Demonstrate the difference from a reference scenario.
Target products and services
- Energy-efficient building and industrial equipment (pumps)
- High efficiency through modification of fluid machinery such as compressors & turbines (engineered services)
- Highly efficient water pumping systems for water supply and agriculture
- Waste power generation
- Biomass power generation
Goal 2
GHG Reduction Volume Defined by Ebara Group
100 million tons in reduction
Cumulative CO2 equivalent reduction from EBARA-defined products sold from 2023 to 2030 over their product lifecycles.
We've set a GHG reduction target for EBARA products that help our customers achieve energy savings in their LNG plants, as well as for products that can decompose and remove high-global-warming-potential PFCs gases without fossil fuel combustion during semiconductor manufacturing processes. We aim to achieve a 100 million-ton reduction by having our customers use these products.

Gole3
To create businesses that support the realization of a carbon-neutral society
We are also developing products that support a society where hydrogen and ammonia can be used as energy sources. Additionally, we are advancing the development of products that support carbon capture and utilization (CCU) systems and are involved in processes that recycle plastic into chemical raw materials.
