EBARA Corporation (hereinafter: EBARA) is pleased to announce the completion of activities and the summary of the Conceptual Feasibility Study (hereinafter: FS) results for the "Next-Generation Spaceport" Working Group (hereinafter: NSP-WG, led by Innovative Space Carrier Inc.), in which EBARA has participated since August 2024.
The results of this FS and a model of the NSP were announced today at "NIHONBASHI SPACE WEEK 2025".
Next-Generation Spaceport Working Group, with Participation from EBARA, Announces Results of Conceptual Feasibility Study
- Report Details Concept for Future Spaceport Operations -
1. Overview of the NSP-WG
The NSP-WG was established in August 2024 with the objective of exploring the multifaceted nature of a "Next-Generation Spaceport (hereinafter: NSP: New Space Port)" that is essential for realizing future high-frequency space transportation services. The NSP-WG aims to realize an NSP as a hub supporting high-frequency space transportation. It envisions a combination of rocket launch and landing functions with a multi-functional complex that people would visit for purposes such as tourism, observation, education, and research. The scope of the study was expanded beyond land to include offshore locations. The study, conducted from August 2024 to the end of October 2025, aimed to realize a novel and highly practical space transportation hub unlike any seen before.
2. EBARA's Activities within the NSP-WG
The NSP-WG conducted the FS on the formulation of the NSP's basic concept, which can accommodate diverse location conditions, including both land and offshore sites, and on the combined model with attached commercial, energy, and entertainment facilities.
In this study, EBARA leveraged its technologies for creating "flow" in water, air, electronics, and energy, which it has cultivated since its founding. Utilizing its core competencies in rotating machinery technology and fluid control technology, EBARA primarily investigated a series of cryogenic fuel line-related facilities within the NSP, covering everything from the acceptance of liquid fuel to its supply to rockets and reuse.
3. Future Developments
EBARA will utilize the knowledge and results gained through the NSP-WG activities in the concretization of its aerospace business. By continuing to realize the provision of technology to spaceports as hubs supporting high-frequency space transportation, EBARA will contribute to reducing the cost of space transportation and realizing a sustainable society.
