EBARA Corporation Completes Construction of New Development Building (V8) at Fujisawa District
~ Strengthening Development and Support Capabilities for Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment. ~

EBARA Corporation (hereinafter “EBARA”) is pleased to announce the completion of a new development building, Building V8, for its Precision Machinery Company at the Fujisawa District in Japan.

1. Background

With the acceleration of digital transformation fueled by the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) and generative AI, global demand for semiconductors is projected to reach USD 1 trillion by 2030.
As semiconductors become ever more miniaturized and integrated, EBARA is enhancing its semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) systems, to meet the evolving and diverse requirements of customers’ applications and manufacturing processes.

2. Overview

The newly completed Building V8 is dedicated primarily to the development of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, with a focus on CMP systems. Outfitted with state-of-the-art development and inspection tools and supported by advanced utility infrastructure, the facility will enhance EBARA’s R&D capabilities, accelerate next-generation product development, and strengthen support for customer innovation.

3. Building Features

Location4-2-1 Hon-Fujisawa, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa, Japan
FunctionR&D facility for semiconductor manufacturing equipment
Building footprint4,356 m2
Total floor area16,229 m2
StructureFour stories above ground, one basement level
Construction startMay 2023
Start of operationsScheduled for August 2025

Building V8 features a high-performance development environment, including remote connectivity for equipment and layouts designed to optimize operational efficiency. With safety as a top priority, the facility incorporates surveillance systems to monitor development areas comprehensively—including zones where large equipment might create blind spots. A centralized monitoring system and energy optimization measures have also been implemented, enabling the building to achieve a CASBEE Class A rating*.

The building offers workspace capacity for more than 600 employees, providing flexibility for future personnel expansion.

4. Future Outlook

Building V8, together with Building K3 at EBARA’s Kumamoto Plant —completed in December 2024 and scheduled to begin full-scale operations by June 2025—will significantly enhance EBARA’s development and production infrastructure.

EBARA remains committed to advancing technological capabilities and delivering solutions that support the industry's growth. We continue to work to elevate standards of living and support abundant lifestyles for all  in line with our long-term vision, E-Vision 2030.
