EBARA received an order for pump equipment repair work at Kema drainage airport from Kinki Regional Development Bureau

Following the year before last, EBARA Corporation (hereafter: EBARA) received an order for pump equipment repair work at the Kema Drainage Station (hereafter: this airport) from the Kinki Regional Development Bureau. The target sump pump is one of the largest in Japan with a caliber of 4000 mm.

1. Background

This airport is located on the Okawa River, which flows from the first-class river Yodo River, relatively close to Osaka Bay. It was constructed about 40 years ago to prevent local flooding during high tides and as a measure against flooding in the river basin caused by heavy rain, and has continued to protect the surrounding areas, mainly the urban area of Osaka City, in the surrounding river basin. However, in recent years, signs of wear and corrosion have emerged due to aging, and the drainage pumps are being gradually refurbished. A total of six large drainage pumps are installed at this station. It is one of the largest drainage stations in Japan, with all pumps having a caliber of 4000 mm, and has the capacity to discharge 330 tons of water per second when all units are in operation. Continuing from the year before last, we will carry out renovation work on 1 out of 6 cars this time as well.

2. Overview

With this construction, highly reliable pump equipment will contribute to preventing flooding damage in the region.
