EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") hereby announces that it has entered into a business alliance agreement with NTT Green & Food, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "NTTG&F)*.
Through this business tie-up, we will conduct a demonstration of a closed-loop terrestrial aquaculture system (Recirculating Aquaculture Systems: RAS) for commercial-scale banamei shrimp at the Iwata Plant, the first largest plant in Japan, constructed by NTTG&F in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture as a land aquaculture facility for banamei shrimp.

1. Background

We aim to "contribute to the creation of a sustainable society" as one of the five materialities (key issues) listed in our long-term vision "E-Vision2030". We have been developing for labor saving and automation of land aquaculture using fluid technology and heat control technology cultivated since our founding. Since the launch of the Project for Promoting Land Aquaculture Business in 2019, we have conducted trial production and sales of multiple fish species. Currently, we are working to develop RAS independently and build services, including breeding operations, through breeding tests for vanamei prawns at our own test facilities.

2. Overview

This business alliance aims to acquire demonstration and production operations of aquaculture systems on a commercial scale and to assess productivity of land aquaculture business by using our RAS in part of Iwata Plant.
In addition, we will establish a cooperative system with NTTG&F company to identify issues for improving productivity in commercial-scale aquaculture farms and examine solutions for them.
