The Muroran Office of Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") held an outreach class at Kaiyo Elementary School in Muroran, Hokkaido. The program was aimed at 44 fifth grade elementary school students, who learned about how pumps work through a model pump and augmented reality (AR) experiences.
This activity is part of Ebara's social contribution activities, and this is the first time that the Muroran office has provided outreach classes.

1. Background and Objectives

Among the many technologies and products that support safe and secure modern lifestyles, pumps play an important role in social infrastructure, but their role is usually largely hidden from view. EBARA has set "supporting education for the next generation" as one of the key themes of its social contribution activities, and hopes that through this activity children will have a fun time learning about pumps, while also learning about how society works and thinking about the future.

2. Overview

This activity will be held in the gymnasium of Kaiyo Elementary School, and will involve a wide range of content aimed at getting children interested in pumps.
The program allowed children to learn while having fun, including a corner where they could turn the handle of a hand-cranked model pump to rotate the impeller and pump water, quizzes about water supply, and a tour of a virtual pumping station using AR (augmented reality).

3. Future plans

EBARA will utilize the "spirit, knowledge, and technology" it has cultivated through more than 100 years of business activities to engage in employee-led educational support activities for the next generation of leaders who are essential to the sustainable development of society.

The EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further enhance its corporate value by addressing key ESG issues based on its long-term vision and medium-term management plan.
