Hokkaido Sapporo City Teina Relay Pump Station Received an order for replacement of engines for rainwater pumps and reduction gears.

EBARA Corp. (EBARA) received an order from Sapporo City for the renewal of engines for rainwater pumps and reduction gears at the Teishi Relay Pump Station (hereinafter referred to as "this machine station").

1. Background and Objectives

This area was originally a low-wetland region and its slope was relatively steep because of its short distance from the river's source to the river's mouth. Until about 50 years ago, heavy rainfalls caused a large amount of water to flow into the city. Since then, the construction of artificial rivers and sewage treatment plants has progressed, and no major damage has occurred. However, the number of water disasters caused by heavy rains, which are believed to be affected by recent climate change, has increased. The plant, which was constructed in 1974, was faced with the problem of deteriorating facilities and the associated degradation of reliability. By updating diesel engines and speed reducers, which constitute the pump system, we will continue to play a role as a facility that contributes to preventing floods and inundations caused by heavy rains.
