Participating in the "Next Generation Spaceport" Working Group

EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") will participate in a working group (hereinafter referred to as "NSP-WG") which will discuss the ideal way of "next-generation space ports (hereinafter referred to as "NSP*2)" necessary for realizing high-frequency space transportation services, which will be launched together with a total of 17 companies and one university *1.

1. Background

EBARA began studying entry into the aerospace field with the launch of a new business idea competition "E-Start2020" in 2020, and in the following year 2021, a specialized division was launched. With the mission of "making the connection between humans and space a matter of course," we are developing pumps for rocket engines in order to contribute to the realization of low-cost transportation to space.

2. Overview

This working group will discuss how NSP should be. In order to realize high-frequency transportation in the future, a base to support space transportation is essential. As a base supporting high-frequency space transportation, NSP aims to be a place where people can visit for a wide range of purposes, including rocket launches and landings, as well as for passengers, spectators, and facility users. It is also expected to be combined with a wide range of facilities related to space transportation, such as commercial facilities such as malls, entertainment facilities such as live music venues, energy facilities, and disaster prevention facilities. The NSP-WG will also expand the scope of its study not only on land but also on the oceans, and plan to create an unprecedented and highly practical space transportation center.

3. Future outlook

EBARA will contribute to the realization of cost reduction of transportation means to space through activities in this NSP-WG by utilizing the technology to create "flow" in water, air, electronics and energy cultivated until now.

The EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further enhance its corporate value by addressing key ESG issues based on its long-term vision and medium-term management plan.

What is the New Space Port Working Group (NSP-WG)?

The NSP-WG is a temporary group established to explore the potential of the New Space Port. As of July 31, a total of 17 companies and 1 university have joined the group. (The number of participating companies may increase.) Over the next two years, until October 2025, the 17 companies and 1 university will determine the direction and conduct a preliminary feasibility study, creating deliverables that can be used if a construction project is eventually formed.
