Received the Technical Achievement Award from the Japan Society of Corrosion Engineering


Ebara Corporation has received the 2023 Technology Achievement Award from the Japan Society of Corrosion Engineering (JSC).

1. Background

The Japan Society of Corrosion Engineering is the leading organization in Japan that aims to promote and disseminate research and technology related to corrosion protection of all materials. The Technical Achievement Award is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement and development of technology in the field of corrosion protection.

2-1 Overview

The details of the award are as follows:
Recipient: Hiroshi Yakuwa, General Manager, Technology, Research and Development Department, Technology, Research and Development and Intellectual Property Management Division, Ebara Corporation
Reasons for the award:

  • Yakuwa has consistently been engaged in research into corrosion problems in rotating machinery, and has elucidated the causes of turbine blade damage caused by high-temperature sulfidation corrosion and devised countermeasures, successfully suppressing intergranular sulfidation corrosion. Also, he contributed to the development of a duplex stainless steel can (welded structure) seawater pump.
  • He promoted research in collaboration with a university and contributed to strengthening industry-academia collaboration. In addition, these results have been published in submitted papers, lectures, seminars, etc., and are being utilized to disseminate technology and develop human resources.
  • He has served as a director and other positions at the Society, contributing to the management of the Society.

In light of the above, he was recognized for his significant contributions to the advancement and development of technology in the field of corrosion protection.
