Shift to University of Tokyo Metaverse Faculty of Engineering Platinum Membership

Ebara Corporation (Head office: Ota-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Masao Asami) (hereinafter referred to as Ebara) has become a platinum member of the recently launched "University of Tokyo Metaverse Engineering School".

1. Background

We are working to utilize the metaverse to advance data-driven strategy formulation and decision-making while promoting the active participation of diverse talent. With a view to breaking away from existing business models and considering and introducing new ways of working, we aim to promote management and human resource development using the metaverse.

2-1 Overview

Our company, led by the Data Strategy Team and Diversity Project, joined the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Metaverse Engineering as a Gold Member in October 2022. The University of Tokyo's School of Metaverse Engineering has been using reskilling courses to develop AI talent within the company, and because the content of the reskilling courses was so rich, in 2022, EBARA participated in the courses up to the Gold Member limit.

In light of this internal evaluation, EBARA will be upshifting from Gold Membership to Platinum Membership in order to further enhance reskilling, strengthen human capital management, and increase human resources capable of responding to the VUCA era. Platinum members will not only develop in-house talent through reskilling courses, but will also participate in diversity initiatives. We are promoting task diversity from a data-driven perspective, emphasizing not only visible information such as nationality, age, and gender, but also intangible information such as major and experience. At the University of Tokyo's School of Metaverse Engineering, we are committed to cultivating talent who can discern the essence of things from an engineering perspective.

3. Future developments

To realize the data-driven diversity that we aim for, we have combined the ideas of the University of Tokyo's School of Metaverse Engineering with our own people analytics technology to promote data-driven diversity using the metaverse. In the future, we aim to further develop these fields by combining various forms of knowledge and exploration, and to increase the number of people who can lead social change and contribute to society.
