JAXA Space Exploration Innovation Hub: Research proposals accepted

Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") has been selected for the research theme in response to a Request for Proposal (RFP) conducted by the Space Exploration Innovation Hub of the National Research and Development Agency, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (hereinafter referred to as "JAXA").

1. Background

As the commercial use of space expands, the development of new transportation infrastructure connecting ground and space, which will serve as the foundation for that use, is accelerating rapidly under the leadership of private companies. Pumps are used as key components in the rocket engines used for space transportation. We are taking advantage of the knowledge of fluid machinery technology that we have accumulated over many years to develop products for rockets in preparation for the full-scale launch of our aerospace business.

2-1 Overview

Our company has been selected for the proposal "Research on high-speed rotation of canned motor pumps," which is being jointly researched and developed with JAXA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., for the research topic "Electric centrifugal pumps that can pressurize highly corrosive fluids without external leakage" in the wide-area unexplored exploration technology targeted by this RFP.
