EBARA Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") has delivered three large drainage pumps to the newly constructed Nakusa Drainage Plant (hereinafter referred to as "the Drainage Plant") by the Wakayama Hirano Farmland Disaster Prevention Plant in order to restore the function of the former Meikusa Drainage Plant, whose drainage function has deteriorated due to the progress of urbanization and changes in the form of river runoff.
Delivered three large drainage pumps to Nagusa Drainage Plant (Wakayama Prefecture)

1. Background and Objectives
The Wakayama Plain area is one of the leading agricultural areas in the prefecture where a variety of crops such as vegetables and fruit trees are produced, mainly rice. Since it is in the basin of the Kino River, which is a first-class river, small rivers and many irrigation canals have been developed for a long time to supplement agricultural water. However, in recent years, due to changes in rainfall patterns and a decline in water retention functions due to urbanization, there is an increasing risk of rainwater overflowing from small rivers and irrigation canals and causing flood damage to farmland and residential land. The pumps installed at the plant for the purpose of reducing water damage have a drainage capacity of 10 tons per second when all units are in operation. In the future, we will contribute to the local community as a facility that supports lifestyles and industries.
2. Overview
In this work, it was necessary to increase the drainage capacity of the pump. This is a 30% increase in the amount of water discharged from the former Meiso Drainage Station. In addition, the performance of the pump has been improved, making it a facility that can be expected to reduce maintenance and management costs.
