EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") has delivered "Pompras," a pump that uses its own unique technology, to the Shobojigawa Drainage Pumping Station (hereinafter referred to as "the Station"), ordered by the Tokushima River and National Highway Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

1. Background

This facility was built over 50 years ago at the confluence of the Yoshino River and its tributary, the Shohoji River. In recent years, measures to deal with aging facilities and increasing water disasters have become issues, but with the introduction of new pumping equipment, it is expected that the station will continue to protect the lives of the local community as a reliable drainage pumping station.

2. Overview

In this construction project, we were required to improve the pump's drainage capacity, reliability during operation, and ease of maintenance, and we achieved the following by using technologies including the drainage pump "Ponplas".

(1) Reduction in the number of pumps
The amount of water that previously required three pumps to drain is now drained with two pumps.
By simply installing the pump itself, we solved the problem of vortexes that occur during low water level operation and increased drainage volume.

(2) Rapid drainage operation
By updating from the conventional horizontal shaft pump to a "vertical shaft pump," full water operation is no longer necessary.
This enables faster drainage operation than ever before.

(3) Reduction in peripheral equipment
By making the facility waterless, we have reduced the risk of breakdowns and increased the reliability of the drainage pumping station.
