Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") conducted a demonstration test of "mass-product type drainage pump equipment" promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (hereinafter referred to as "MLIT") together with the Ministry and other participating companies.

1. Background and Objectives

In Japan, an increasing number of drainage pumping stations were built more than 40 years ago, and the time will come for a major renewal of these aging drainage pump facilities. In preparation for this, there is a need to develop methods and technologies for updating drainage pump equipment efficiently and effectively. Against this background, on April 19, 2021, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, two pump manufacturers, and three automobile engine manufacturers signed a "Basic Agreement on the Joint Implementation of Demonstration Tests of Mass-Production Drainage Pumps" to develop a new drainage pump.

2. Overview of the Demonstration Test

This demonstration test is the first attempt at cross-industry collaboration between a pump manufacturer and an automobile engine manufacturer. Ebara has manufactured a highly efficient pump to ensure smooth demonstration testing with the engines of the three automobile engine manufacturers. We also manufactured and installed a common stand for the pump, reducer, and engine to facilitate easy installation work.

End of December 2021Delivered an experimental drainage pump to the Public Works Research Institute, National Research and Development Agency (located in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture).
2022 January - FebruaryA demonstration test of equipment incorporating a vehicle engine in an experimental drainage pump was conducted at the Public Works Research Institute.

3. Future developments

In March 2022, six cities and towns were selected to conduct on-site verification of the demonstration project. EBARA will support social infrastructure that allows people to live safely and securely through the realization of mass-produced drainage pump equipment.

The EBARA Group will work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further increase its corporate value by addressing key ESG issues based on its long-term vision and medium-term management plan.
