Regional Fish Co., Ltd. (RF), a capital and business partner of Ebara Corporation (Ebara), has won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award at the 4th Japan Open Innovation Awards. Our joint research and development project, "breeding improvement using genome editing technology x regional development through smart aquaculture," was recognized, and we were awarded the prize together with the other companies involved in the project.

2-1 Overview

The Japan Open Innovation Award is a government program that recognizes exemplary "open innovation" projects that cross organizational boundaries and take on new challenges, such as industry-academia collaboration, collaboration between large companies and venture companies, and collaboration between local governments and companies, with the aim of accelerating the creation of innovation that will lead the future of Japan.

Reasons for this award:
- Innovative breeding techniques were applied to marine products, and the project was implemented in society through joint research with related research institutions.
- This is an example of successful collaboration with related companies in sales strategies such as product branding, in addition to the smartification of aquaculture techniques.

Future plans

Based on the concept of "giving the sea a rest," our company aims to build a land-based aquaculture system that can steadily supply delicious fish with a low environmental impact. We will work to resolve the important issues set out in our long-term vision, "E-Vision 2030," and contribute to the realization of a sustainable "world without water or food shortages."

EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further enhance its corporate value by addressing key ESG issues based on its long-term vision and medium-term management plan.
