EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") supports the purpose of the "Science Castle Research Fund," a research grant program for junior and senior high school students run by Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Leave a Nest"), and in 2020 established the "EBARA Corporation Award" to support junior and senior high school students who are dedicated to research. A research presentation was held within the company to discuss the results of research undertaken in fiscal year 2021.

1. Background and Objectives

EBARA publicly solicited research projects on the theme of "Research to create the future using 'flow'" and selected four teams. The aim of this event was to encourage future researchers to take their first steps through research into using "flow" to solve social issues. In addition to providing research funding, employees from EBARA and Leave a Nest provided each team with various forms of support over the course of about six months, including advice on how to conduct their research and how to create experimental equipment, and help with presentation practice.

2. Overview

The research results were presented at EBARA's Fujisawa office in Kanagawa Prefecture and online, with an audience of over 100 people. The presentation was very lively, with a Q&A session between EBARA employees and the students, and advice for future research. The students also toured an automated dry vacuum pump factory and experienced solution tools that utilize xR (virtual and augmented reality) technology.
