Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") has been selected by Kyoto Prefecture as "Kyoto Prefecture Regional Development Excellent Construction Contractor" and received an Encouragement Award.

1. Background

The heavy rains of August 2014, said to be the heaviest rainfall ever recorded in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture, caused flooding to more than 3,000 homes in low-lying areas of the city. Later, the Kobogawa Drainage Pumping Station (hereafter referred to as the "Pumping Station") was constructed as part of a flood control project implemented jointly by the national government, Kyoto Prefecture, and Fukuchiyama City.

2-1 Overview

Ebara solves a wide range of issues related to drainage facilities and water supply and sewerage systems through comprehensive engineering, including proposal, design, procurement, manufacturing, mechanical equipment construction, and after-sales service for pumping equipment that transports water. The latest award was presented in recognition of the fact that the plant's "Special Emergency Construction Work to Prevent Flooding Above the Bed of the Kobo River" was completed on schedule and without any accidents or disasters. Ebara carried out the mechanical work, including the large pump, and the electrical work, including the operation control panel.
