Introducing our proprietary people analytics for new graduate recruitment

EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") has introduced our proprietary people analytics to recruit diverse human resources in its recruitment activities for new graduates who will join the company in 2022.

1. Background

In order to realize the ideal state of the long-term vision "E-Vision 2030" in 10 years, EBARA has set the promotion of the active participation of human resources as one of its key issues. To this end, it is essential to foster a corporate culture of competition and challenge, and to develop human resources who can bring about change by thinking and acting on their own to improve corporate value. In order to visualize the qualities and aptitudes of employees and enable more efficient and effective human resource planning and staffing, we launched the "HR tech Specialized Team" in 2021 and have begun full-scale HR tech activities.

2-1 Overview

In conventional recruitment activities, there is a tendency to be biased toward hiring homogeneous human resources based on human judgment alone, and it is difficult to generate diverse ideas. Based on attribute information such as the applicant's field of major, personality, and special skills, as well as data obtained through aptitude tests, we have defined the human resources required by our company. An in-house HR data scientist analyzed applicants' data from various perspectives, such as statistics and behavioral psychology, and classified them into four main talent types (portfolios) to visualize the variability of the portfolio.

In order to recruit a more diverse workforce, we incorporated objective data into the evaluation items and hiring criteria for new graduate recruitment interviews with the understanding of recruiters, and used the challenges and solutions derived from the data. As a result of this visualization of human resources, we have been able to hire a wide range of types of human resources.

3. Future developments

Our in-house HR data scientists independently analyzed the data and built algorithmic models. It is also a rare attempt to derive data-driven issues and solutions in recruitment, and to spread the understanding of recruiters in order to develop them in a comprehensive recruitment process. Going forward, we will continue to expand the use of HR tech in addition to recruiting new graduates in order to enhance the competitiveness of the Group and globally as a whole.

EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further enhance its corporate value by addressing key ESG issues based on its long-term vision and medium-term management plan.
