The 7th EOI Symposium on the Business Value of Sound ~Frontiers of Acoustic Technology and Business Applications~

The online event The online event

On October 4, EBARA held an online symposium titled "The 7th EBARA Open Innovation Symposium on the Value and Business Opportunities of Sound Technologies" with prominent professors from Japan.

1. Background

EBARA's EOL*1 activities are being developed to develop human resources to support technological development. The EOI Symposium has been held since 2018 as a program of its activities, positioning it as a place for industry-academia collaboration and co-creation that connects academia and business across technical fields.

2. Overview

Traditionally, in the field of industrial machinery, it was considered desirable to reduce the noise generated by machinery. However, in recent years, in automobiles and home appliances, "comfortable sounds" and "meaningful operating sounds" have formed part of product value and have influenced consumers' product choices.
In this symposium, three professors, Professor Manabu Mihokawa (Hosei University), Professor Takeshi Toi (Chuo University), and Professor Yoshinobu Kajikawa (Kansai University), gave lectures on the latest technologies and industry trends in sound environment, sound design, mechanical noise and its evaluation, and active sound control technology, and approximately 120 employees participated.
Based on the idea that "the sound emitted by industrial machinery" from a different perspective and creating new added value will lead to better products and services, all attendees had a lively discussion and gained awareness.

3. Future developments

In its long-term vision E-Vision 2030, EBARA has set "contributing to the creation of evolving and affluent lifestyles" as an important issue. EHU will continue to hold lectures and seminars inviting researchers from Japan and overseas, including professors who are involved in joint research at EOI, to strengthen product competitiveness, improve technological capabilities, and create new businesses.

EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further enhance its corporate value by addressing key ESG issues based on its long-term vision and medium-term management plan.
