EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") has delivered five drainage pump vehicles to Fukuoka Prefecture for the purpose of mitigating flood damage.

1. Background

In recent years, the occurrence of large typhoons and localized heavy rainfall has been on the increase in Japan due to climate change and other factors, and there is concern that water-related disasters may become more severe as a result. In addition, urban water disasters are also seen as a result of large amounts of rainwater flowing into drainage systems in excess of the planned amount due to local population growth and housing development that has caused forests and fields to lose their water-retaining functions. Against the risk of water-related disasters, which is expected to increase in the future, drainage facilities need to be more reliable and mobile than ever before.

2-1 Overview

There are 20 first-class rivers in the Kyushu region, and many rivers, including tributaries and waterways, support people's lives and industry. However, when water disasters occur, the impact on the community is not small, including flooding due to large and small river overflows and underground flooding. In order to quickly restore the disaster site to a safe and secure daily life, the pumps mounted on the drain pump trucks are designed to speed up restoration work by enabling drainage even at low water levels and reducing the weight of the pumps.
