Received order for renewal of Kongo Drainage Pump Station (Kumamoto Prefecture)

EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") announces that it has received an order for the renewal of rainwater drainage pumps at the Kongo Drainage Pump Station in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

1. Background

The Kongo Drainage Pump Station is located at the mouth of the Kuma River, one of the three most rapid rivers in Japan. The plains, which have expanded through land reclamation, are an agricultural area specializing in rushes and citrus fruits. The region is characterized by its low elevation due to its origins. Completed in 1981, the Kongo Drainage Pump Station has been working for about 40 years to prevent waterlogging damage in the region, contributing to the stabilization of agricultural operations and disaster prevention. However, typhoons and heavy rains, which have been increasing in recent years, often cause rivers to overflow and waterways to rise, resulting in extensive damage.

2-1 Overview

This project will upgrade the existing aging pump station and improve drainage capacity. This will contribute to disaster prevention and mitigation and sustainable local agricultural management.
