Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Ebara) has announced its participation in the "Challenge Zero" project, led by the Japan Business Federation (hereinafter referred to as "Keidanren"), which aims to realize a decarbonized society, and has registered a challenge case.
Participation in Keidanren's "Challenge Zero"
1. Background and Objectives
Ebara has set "3. Thorough environmental management" as one of the five key issues in its "Long-term Vision E-Vision 2030" (hereinafter referred to as "E-Vision 2030") announced in 2020. As part of this initiative, we will participate in "Challenge Zero" and actively work to promote CO2 reduction, including the maximum use of renewable energy, toward carbon neutrality.
2-1 Overview
"Challenge Zero" (Challenge Net Zero Carbon Innovation) is a new initiative in which Keidanren works with the Japanese government to strongly promote and support innovative actions taken by companies and organizations both domestically and internationally in order to achieve a carbon-neutral society, which is the long-term goal of the Paris Agreement, an international framework for climate change measures.

3. Future developments
The EBARA Group will contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society through the procurement of renewable energy at its business sites and the sale of highly efficient products and semiconductor process gas processing equipment.
The EBARA Group's CO2 reduction goals for 2030 are as follows.
- (1) Reduce CO2 emissions (Scope 1, 2) in 2030 by 26% compared to 2018 as the base year.
- (2) Reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated by the use of products sold in 2030 by approximately 100 million tons of CO2.
Furthermore, we will strongly support the decarbonization of society by maximizing the procurement of renewable energy electricity, the use of renewable energy sources such as solar power generation, and contributions to carbon neutrality through our business.
By addressing key ESG issues based on our long-term vision and medium-term management plan, the EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further improve its corporate value.
