The Ebara Corporation (hereinafter, Ebara) Haneda office updated its disaster preparedness supplies in September and donated approximately 2,000 items (18,000 meals) to children's cafeterias, social welfare councils, and food banks across the country through the Japan Emergency Food Promotion Organization.
Disaster preparedness supplies from the Haneda office were donated to children's cafeterias and social welfare councils
1. Background
In its long-term vision, E-Vision 2030, EBARA has set out the goal of "practicing advanced ESG management," and places importance on connections with society, including contributing to the development of local communities.
Rather than disposing of disaster prevention supplies, EBARA decided to donate them to help someone else, and to help reduce food waste, which led to this donation.
2-1 Overview
We donated disaster preparedness supplies with more than one month left on their shelf life to 24 children's cafeterias, 24 social welfare councils, and 3 food banks across the country. The donated supplies will be used to support children's cafeterias, support those in financial difficulty, and raise disaster prevention awareness. The stockpiled items included risotto, biscuits, drinking water, and thermal sheets.
This year, as the number of people struggling to make ends meet due to the effects of COVID-19 is on the rise, the recipients were pleased to receive food that is easy to distribute and can be eaten without heating.
3. Future developments
Not only will we secure the necessary number of disaster prevention supplies to ensure the safety of our employees, but we will also make effective use of these supplies when we need to update them in the future.
By addressing key ESG issues based on our long-term vision and medium-term management plan, the EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further increase our corporate value.
