Cooperating with JSEC2020 (18th High School and College of Technology Student Science and Technology Challenge)

Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Ebara) supports JSEC's goal of improving Japan's science and technology standards and the purpose of its activities to support young people who think independently, find problems, solve them, and further develop them, and is therefore cooperating with JSEC2020 (the 18th High School and College of Technology Student Science and Technology Challenge).

1. Background and Objectives

JSEC is a free research contest for science, technology and mathematics that began in 2003 under the auspices of the Asahi Shimbun. We aim to improve Japan's level of science and technology by promoting science and mathematics education. Top winners will have the opportunity to compete in the International Student Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which brings together high school students from all over the world.
Ebara has set out to practice advanced ESG management in its long-term vision, "E-Vision 2030," and has been providing ongoing support to JSEC since 2018 by establishing the "Ebara Corporation Award" as part of its social contribution activities that contribute to the development of global human resources that will support the next generation.

2. Overview

  • (1) Eligibility: High school students, technical college students (up to third year), and secondary school students (fourth to sixth year) in Japan, either individually or in teams of up to three people
  • (2) Research content: Ambitious research works, including not only academic research but also field surveys and experiment reports from original perspectives, prototype experimental equipment, and product development.
  • (3) Application period: Tuesday, September 15, 2020 to Tuesday, October 13, 2020
  • (4) Award: Ebara Corporation Award / Certificate and research grant of 100,000 yen

3. Future developments

  • (1) Preliminary Selection: Mid to late October
  • (2) First Selection: Mid-November
  • (3) Final Selection: Saturday, December 12th and Sunday, December 13th

  • (4) Award Ceremony: Sunday, December 13th, held online after the final selection
