First solar pumps sold in Brazil

Solar pump "ÉCAROS" series Solar pump "ÉCAROS" series

EBARA Bombas América do Sul Ltda., an overseas group company of Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara").(Headquarters: Brazil, hereafter: EBAS has launched the first solar-powered pump.

1. Background

As one of the key issues EBARA aims to address in its long-term vision, "E-Vision 2030," it aims to accurately grasp the needs of each country and deliver water to people around the world in order to contribute to the realization of safe and secure living.
Even now, there are areas in the interior of Brazil that do not have electricity. In order to meet daily needs such as securing drinking water, we have been developing solar pumps and have started selling them since January of this year.

2. Overview of solar pumps

A solar pump is powered by sunlight, which is converted into electricity through a solar panel made of semiconductive silicon. The solar panels used are multicrystalline panels*, which are common in Brazil due to their cost advantage and versatility. In addition to the 220V deep well pumps that EBAS has been producing since its founding, we also offer centrifugal pumps and swimming pool pumps.

3. Future developments

By the end of the year, we plan to launch a product that can handle pumps with a larger power consumption equivalent to 380V, and will strengthen sales expansion in Brazil by utilizing EBAS's extensive sales and service network.
In addition, in August, EBAS held a webinar on solar pumps in Spanish and English in addition to Portuguese. Given the high level of interest in our products in various overseas regions, we plan to consider introducing them in countries other than Brazil in the future.

We are committed to practicing ESG management by providing highly efficient products and services that contribute to measures against climate change. Aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, we will further strengthen our existing efforts in developing energy-saving products.

By addressing key ESG issues based on our long-term vision and medium-term management plan, the EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further increase our corporate value.

*There are two types of solar panels: monocrystalline and polycrystalline. Polycrystalline is easy to produce and highly versatile, making it suitable for large-scale installations. Single crystals, which are superior in terms of durability, lifespan, and appearance, are used for rooftops of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
