EBARA Corporation (hereafter: EBARA) has completed equipment repair work for the Yokoshiba Pumping Station, which is the starting point of the Boso conduit ※1 in Chiba Prefecture.

1. Background

In the Kujukuri and Minamiboso regions of Chiba Prefecture, population growth and urbanization have progressed, and since there are many factories in the Keiyo Seaside Industrial Area, stable supply of tap water and industrial water is required. On the Boso Peninsula, where there are few sufficient water sources, a Boso conduit with a total length of about 100 km has been built, and water is transported from the Tone River, which is the water source, to where it is needed. Water pumping stations located at various locations along the Boso conduit play a role in sending water to dams and water purification plants, and support local life and industry.

EBARA is solving a wide range of issues faced by water supply and sewerage through comprehensive engineering of proposals, design, procurement, mechanical equipment construction, and after-sales service for pump equipment that transports water according to each purpose.

2. Overview

In this construction, repairs, including system design, manufacture, and installation of aging pump equipment were carried out at the Yokoshiba Pumping Station, which is one of the “Boso Conduit” facilities. Water sent from Yokoshiba Pumping Station is sent to Togane Dam and Nagara Dam via the Boso Conduit Channel of about 35 km, and then used locally as domestic water and industrial water through the water purification plant.
