Mika Amanuma of the Social Systems Construction Department at Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Ebara) received the "Women's Engineer Achievement Award" at the "1st CCI Tokyo Young Engineers and Women's Engineers Achievement Awards" sponsored by the CCI Tokyo (Charming Construction's Identity hereinafter referred to as CCI) ※1 "Conference for Promoting Attractive Construction Business."

1. Background

In the construction machinery industry in Japan, the total population is declining, the birthrate is declining, and the aging population is progressing, and securing and developing human resources who will lead the future is an issue. The purpose of this award is to recognize young and female engineers who are active in construction projects in Tokyo, to further promote the appeal of the construction industry, and to contribute to the development of future leaders and to encouraging women to enter the workforce.

2-1 Overview

This award is given to outstanding activities that contribute to promoting the active participation of young people and women, and this year 26 individuals were selected as recipients of the Young Engineers and Female Engineers Achievement Award. This award was presented in recognition of Amanuma's work as supervising engineer and on-site representative for the "Improvement and Repair Work for High-Stage Sewage Pump Equipment No. 2 at Higashi-Kojiya Pump Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Sewerage Bureau," which was carried out by Ebara in fiscal 2019. This work was intended to improve the pumping function of the pumps installed at the Higashi-Kosuya Pump Station in Ota-ku, Tokyo. The Higashi-Kotani Pumping Station is an important facility with 22 large-diameter pumps for pumping sewage. The improvement and repair work of the pumping equipment, which is the heart of this effort, is responsible for protecting the safe lives of the people of Tokyo.

3. Future developments

In its medium-term management plan, E-Plan 2022, Ebara's "Human Resources Strategy" includes the acquisition, optimal placement and development of "competitive and challenging" human resources from around the world, as well as the promotion of diversity. This award is very meaningful not only for our company, but also for the construction machinery industry, as it will give impetus to the promotion of employment, securing workers, and promoting the active participation of human resources regardless of gender. EBARA will continue to work to create a more comfortable and attractive working environment for everyone.

By addressing key ESG issues based on our long-term vision and medium-term management plan, the EBARA Group aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further improve our corporate value.
