Pump technical seminar held in Cambodia

Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") held the "Ebara Seiji Hatakeyama Memorial Fund Pump Technology Seminar" for two days on February 21st and 22nd, 2019, at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. So far, we have held more than 20 seminars in Cambodia.
- 1 Background
EBARA has deepened mutual understanding in countries around the world through international cooperation such as technical guidance. Since the establishment of the EBARA Hatakeyama Seiji Memorial Fund in 1989, more than 250 seminars have been held around the world, with a total of more than 12,000 participants. The main industry in Cambodia, where the event is being held, is agriculture, so many pumps are used for irrigation and other purposes. In addition, the demand for pumps for water supply and sewage systems has been increasing in recent years due to urbanization. - 2 A total of 106 people participated in the course, including those involved in the water supply business of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Phnom Penh Water Department, local governments, and university students (mostly fourth-year engineering students). The seminar included lectures on basic knowledge of pumps, basic planning of pumping stations, and energy conservation measures. We also held a tour of a drainage pump station in Phnom Penh. The center of Phnom Penh is at a lower elevation than the surrounding areas, and with the recent increase in population, the development of urban drainage facilities has become an issue. Last year, EBARA delivered five 800mm diameter drainage pumps(*1) to the pump station we visited this time.
- 3 Future Developments
EBARA will not only continue to supply pumps and other products and services, but will also contribute to the development of Southeast Asian countries through international cooperation activities such as technical seminars. A total of six seminars are planned for 2019, including in Thailand and Vietnam.
By addressing our medium-term management plan and key ESG issues, the EBARA Group aims to further improve our corporate value based on our management policy and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
