EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as EBARA) is participating in the International Youth Invention and Innovation Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as IEYI), which is being held by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (hereinafter referred to as the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation). *1 We have established the EBARA Award at the International Exhibition for Young Inventors. The 15th event will be held from October 23rd to 25th at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition in Tangerang, west of Jakarta, Indonesia, and will be attended by 11 countries, mainly from Asia. ※2 A total of 140 works were submitted by 257 children and students. Fourteen students from Japan were sent to exhibit and introduce their own inventions.

1. Background and Objectives

The IEYI has been held since 2004 with the aim of "fostering creativity and international sensibility through exhibitions and contests of inventions created by young people from around the world." From Japan, exhibitions and contests hosted by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation *3 Students who have achieved excellent results in the program are participating. EBARA supports this initiative and will now establish the EBARA Award to continue supporting children who continue to challenge themselves to reach even greater heights.

2. Awards Overview

  • Prize Winners: Mohammad Arga Rhazes Ramadhan (Country name: Indonesia)
  • Reason for the award:・The fact that it was devised to reduce damage in a country prone to earthquakes.
    ・A unique idea that uses bamboo for the building's structural materials and permanent magnets and springs as vibration control materials.
    ・The explanation is logical.

3. Future developments

The first IEYI was held in Japan with the support of nine participating countries (at the time), and has since been held in various countries. The next event is scheduled to be held in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia in 2020. For over 100 years since its founding, EBARA has been engaged in business that contributes to the fields of water, air, and the environment. Regardless of age, the desire to invent, develop and take on new challenges to make society a better place is a mindset that runs through EBARA's DNA. EBARA will continue to not only provide pumps and other products and services, but also to support the next generation of engineers.
