On November 12th, Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Ebara) was awarded a letter of appreciation for its "Mirai Rikejo - Monozukuri Cafe" project, which is part of its social contribution activities, selected from over 1,000 projects as one of the 24 finalists at the Kodansha Media Conference 2019 Media Awards.
1. Background and aims of the project
Since 2015, EBARA has participated in the "Mirai Rikejo Monozukuri Cafe" sponsored by the Cabinet Office, in collaboration with Kodansha and Rikejo, as part of its "educational support" activities, which are one of the pillars of its social contribution activities. In order to develop the next generation of science and engineering talent in the face of a declining birthrate, Ebara is undertaking a variety of educational support initiatives for students from elementary school through university. The aim of this project is to foster interest in science and engineering and alleviate concerns among girls in their junior and senior high school years, which are said to be "the most influential time for deciding on their future career paths." Through these opportunities, they will be able to listen to talks by guests active on the front lines and female employees of our company, as well as interact with and participate in workshops with current female science students. This was the fourth time the event was held, and it attracted the largest number of participants to date.
