EBARA CORPORATION
New Year's Address from the President (Summary)
Today, January 5, 2018, marks the start of the new year and the 154th fiscal year, as we have changed our fiscal year end.
The 154th fiscal year, 2018, is the second year of E-Plan2019, and is a very important fiscal year for achieving the goals of E-Plan2019.
In order for the EBARA Group to continue its business with a firm position in the global market as an industrial machinery manufacturer for the next 100 years, we have set a growth target of achieving consolidated sales of more than 700 billion yen and high profits with a consolidated operating profit ratio of more than 10% by the mid-2020s, based on our "Management Policy (Towards 2020)." By the mid-2020s, there will have been three three-year medium-term management plans since 2016. Therefore, the first three years of E-Plan 2019 have been a period in which we will focus on strengthening our group's earnings base so that it is not affected by market fluctuations and on increasing the group's profitability. In order to make the EBARA Group a corporate group with one notch higher profitability than it is now, we will continue to work on improving profitability this year to achieve a return on invested capital (ROIC) of 8.0% or more and a group consolidated operating profit ratio of 9.0% or more by the end of E-Plan2019 in fiscal year 2019. We will also work together on our "relentless challenge to grow" and achieve great results toward achieving our targets for next fiscal year.
I would like to talk about "work style reform," which we all must advance while achieving our business goals.
In corporate activities that allow the abilities and talents of employees working at a company to be utilized in business and work and produce results, we must think about what we should do and how to do it most efficiently, that is, think about how to use time most efficiently. I believe that the basis of "work style reform" is to think about what we should do and how to do it most efficiently in order to carry out corporate activities most efficiently. There are three major themes to consider in advancing work style reform. The first is "Improving productivity through work reform and mindset change," the second is "Supporting the growth of individual capabilities and autonomy," and the third is "Improving the work environment and considering diverse working styles." We will consider and move forward with concrete measures to address these issues.
We would like to reform our work style and create a work style and workplace that allows us to work smarter and more intelligently, that allows for a good work-life balance, and that allows each individual to compete and take on new challenges.
This year marks the second year of E-Plan2019, and we would like to work energetically and diligently throughout the year so that our efforts will bear fruit in all our businesses in fiscal 2019.
(The above is a summary of the New Year's address given at our company's opening ceremony on January 5th.)
