Donating pumps to Yangon University of Science and Technology in Myanmar

Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") donated a pump to Yangon University of Science and Technology in Myanmar on December 5th as part of its international cooperation activities through technical guidance. The purpose of this program is to deepen understanding of pump structure and control methods by experiencing pumps. On the same day that the pumps were donated, a short seminar on pumps was held at the university, attended by more than 30 students and faculty members studying mechanical engineering.
1. Background
In Myanmar, where economic growth is progressing, the development of water infrastructure is an urgent issue accompanying urban development, but there is a shortage of engineers who can plan pumping facilities for water supply and sewerage systems as well as drainage facilities, so universities are focusing on developing such human resources. Ebara has held pump seminars in Myanmar more than 10 times so far.
2. About the Seminar
EBARA has deepened mutual understanding in countries around the world through international cooperation such as technical guidance. Since the establishment of the EBARA Hatakeyama Seiji Memorial Fund in 1989, more than 250 seminars have been held around the world, with a total of more than 12,000 participants. In fiscal 2018, a total of six seminars were held in countries including Vietnam and Thailand. A total of six seminars are planned for 2019.
3. Future developments
The Ebara Group established a representative office in Yangon in November 2015 and has received numerous inquiries since. EBARA will continue to contribute to the development of Southeast Asian countries not only by providing pumps and other products and services, but also through international cooperation activities such as technical seminars.
