Sponsored the 16th High School Student Science and Technology Challenge JSEC2018

1. Background and Objectives
Ebara supports the aim of supporting young people who have the ability to think independently and solve problems, and who are internationally competitive, and has been sponsoring the event since last year, and has continued to support the event by establishing the "Ebara Corporation Award" from this year.
2. Overview of the tournament
- Name of the competition: 16th High School Student Science and Technology Challenge JSEC2018
- Date: December 8th (Saturday) - 9th (Sunday)
- Venue: Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation)
*Of the 247 total applications, 30 research projects made it to the final screening committee, and 14 of them received awards, including the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, the Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy Award, the Japan Science and Technology Agency Award, as well as Sponsoring Company Awards and Encouragement Awards. Several teams will be selected from the top winners to represent Japan at the Intel International Student Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA in the spring of 2019.

- Award recipients: Gifu Prefectural Gifu High School / Mitsuki Tsunekawa, Masae Hirose, Nanami Masai
- Research title: Establishment of biological distribution monitoring using quantitative analysis of environmental DNA
~Exploring the seasonal relationship between sweetfish and coldwater disease bacteria in the Nagara River and Ibi River~
3. Future developments
Ebara will continue to not only provide pumps and other products and services, but also contribute to the development of the next generation of engineers through social contribution activities such as creating opportunities for students to become interested in technology and manufacturing.
By addressing its medium-term management plan and key ESG issues, the Ebara Group will strive to achieve its management policies and further improve its corporate value, thereby contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
