EBARA's employee cafeteria receives Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award

The cafeteria in the head office building of EBARA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "EBARA") has received the "2017 Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nutrition"*1. While the majority of awards go to food service facilities in hospitals and welfare facilities, this is the first time in two years that a company's employee cafeteria has won the award.
The key points for the award are as follows:
- 1 There are multiple registered dietitians on both the company side and the cafeteria side, and the cafeteria is operated based on close cooperation.
- 2 In cooperation with the health management department, the company-wide initiative to improve eating habits, named "e-lunch," was launched in fiscal 2014.
- 3 Nutritional information is provided to users via the intranet and the payment system, and food columns and seasonal ingredients are posted monthly using media such as the company intranet and posters.
- 4 Table For Two*2 has been adopted to simultaneously promote health and contribute to society.
EBARA is proactively working to improve the health of its employees, and in 2016 it received the highest rank in the "DBJ Health Rating" *3, and in 2017 was certified as a "2017 Health and Productivity Management Excellent Corporation (White 500)" *4. We believe that the physical and mental health of our employees is an important foundation for our company, leading to improved productivity and a vibrant workplace, and we will continue to actively promote initiatives to improve the health of our employees.
*1 "Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nutrition"
This award is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to nutritional improvement over many years and whose achievements are recognized as being particularly outstanding, as well as to exceptional specific school meal facilities that are recognized as exemplary for others. This year, nearly 100 individuals and 20 facilities from across the country were awarded the prize.
*2 Table For Two A social contribution movement originating in Japan, run by TABLE FOR TWO International, which simultaneously works to eliminate hunger in developing countries and obesity and lifestyle-related diseases in developed countries. EBARA donates 20 yen for each healthy lunch served to a child in a developing country.
*3 "DBJ Health Rating"
"DBJ Health Management Rating" loans are a unique system developed by DBJ that evaluates companies that are excellent at taking care of the health of their employees and sets loan conditions according to the evaluation.
*4 "Health Management Excellent Corporation 2017 (White 500)"
This award recognizes large corporations that practice excellent health management under the Health Management Certification System jointly promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Health Conference.
