We have shipped the world's largest submersible motor pump

EBARA Corporation (hereafter: EBARA) has shipped a submersible motor pump boasting the world's largest output of 3,350 HP (2,500 kW) to a pumping station that sends domestic water to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The pump shipped this time is a vertical shaft double suction single stage pump driven by a submersible motor. Due to the structure of connecting 24 5.2 m suspension pipe*, the total length of the pump is about 130 meters, making it the longest product for EBARA's large submersible motor pump.
One of the features of this pump is that by adopting a double-suction single-stage structure for the impeller, high suction performance is achieved, and the load acting on the thrust bearing is reduced by balancing hydrothrust force.
Las Vegas, the largest city in Nevada, is also called a “city in the desert,” and domestic water is sent from Dam Lake (Lake Mead) at Hoover Dam 48 km away. In recent years, the water level at Hoover Dam has dropped dramatically, and a pumping pump with a lift of 100 m or more is required to take water from this dam. A multi-stage structure consisting of multiple impellers is common for submersible motor pumps of this scale, but by combining EBARA's advanced hydro technology in this product, we succeeded in achieving the required performance with a single-stage impeller that is compatible with a wide operating range. The simple single-stage structure requires fewer parts and makes subsequent maintenance easier, making it possible to reduce customer life cycle costs.
EBARA has delivered many large water pumps to the Nevada Water Authority (Southern Nevada Water Authority). As for pumps for lake water intake applications that send domestic water to Las Vegas, 6 vertical shaft mixed-flow multi-stage land pumps were delivered in 2007, and they have received high praise.
EBARA will continue to further refine its high technical capabilities and contribute to water infrastructure around the world.

* A suspension tube is a pumping pipe that conducts water discharged from a volute casing to the upper part of the ground, and it also plays a role in holding pump parts such as underwater motors, impellers, and volute casings.
