Pump seminar held in Myanmar

Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") held a pump technology seminar at the Myanmar Engineering Society (MES) in Yangon, Myanmar for two days from June 9th to 10th, 2016. The seminar was attended by 54 people from government agencies, local governments, and private companies.

Myanmar is experiencing remarkable economic growth, with new commercial buildings and industrial parks being constructed one after another, and large-scale urban planning is underway in the capital, Naypyidaw, and the second largest city, Mandalay, resulting in a growing demand for water infrastructure. The Ebara Group established a representative office in Yangon in November 2015. Given Myanmar's unstable power situation, the seminar attracted great interest in topics such as energy-saving pump operation methods and the water hammer phenomenon during power outages.

EBARA has deepened mutual understanding in countries around the world through international cooperation such as technical guidance. Since the establishment of the EBARA Hatakeyama Seiji Memorial Fund in 1989, more than 250 seminars have been held around the world, with a total of more than 12,000 participants. In fiscal 2016, a total of eight seminars are scheduled to be held in Vietnam, Thailand and other countries.

EBARA will continue to contribute to the development of Southeast Asian countries not only by providing pumps and other products and services, but also through international cooperation activities such as technical seminars.

*Water hammer phenomenon: When the speed of the water flowing through the pipes changes suddenly, such as when the pump is started or stopped (especially in the case of a sudden stop due to a power outage), or when a valve is opened or closed, a drastic change occurs in the water pressure. This phenomenon is called water hammer.
