Seminar on flood control pumps held in Thailand
Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") held a seminar on flood control pumps in Bangkok, Thailand from August 24 to 31, 2016. This seminar is the 26th one co-hosted with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The seminar was attended by a record 56 people, mainly engineers, from seven countries: Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, the Philippines, India, Cambodia, and Laos.
In recent years, Southeast Asian countries have been hit by a succession of major flood damages due to abnormal weather, making flood prevention measures an urgent issue. The seminar focused on pump technology for flood control, and included lectures on the technology required for planning large drainage pump facilities and a tour of a drainage pump station that protects Bangkok from flood damage, as well as videos and case studies.
EBARA has deepened mutual understanding in countries around the world through international cooperation such as technical guidance. Since the establishment of the EBARA Hatakeyama Seiji Memorial Fund in 1989, more than 250 seminars have been held around the world, with a total of more than 12,000 participants. A total of eight seminars are planned for fiscal 2016 in Myanmar, Vietnam, and other countries.
EBARA will continue to contribute to the development of Southeast Asian and South American countries through international cooperation activities such as technical seminars, in addition to providing pumps and other products and services.
