Newly established automated dry vacuum pump factory

Ebara Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Ebara") will open a new automated factory, Building V7, at its Fujisawa facility in December 2019 to produce dry vacuum pumps, the main product of the Precision Machinery Company.
1. Background and Objectives
In line with the basic policy of its medium-term management plan, E-Plan 2019, Ebara is promoting the revamping of production and business processes with automated factories at the core, strengthening product competitiveness and improving profitability.
With the spread of IoT and AI, semiconductors are being used in everything, and demand in the industrial sector is rapidly increasing, leading to an expansion in the semiconductor manufacturing equipment market, which is the main market for the Precision Machinery Company.
Demand for dry vacuum pumps, which are essential at semiconductor manufacturing sites, is also growing, and to meet this demand, the company will build a new automated factory and increase production capacity.
2. Features of automated factories
- By using automation technology that utilizes IoT, production and operation status can be managed in real time, enabling efficient processing, assembly, and logistics processes to be tailored to changes in demand.
- Integrated production from machining to assembly and testing in the same building.
- Mixed production of multiple models.
- Equipment specifications that take business continuity plans (BCP) into consideration.
3. Future developments
With the establishment of this new automated factory, we will be able to produce products that meet our customers' needs in a timely manner. Even after the new factory starts operations, we will continue to introduce the latest technology, especially automation, and work to further improve productivity.
